The chalet comprises on the ground floor a bright and spacious lounge dining area with wood burning fireplace. A sizeable well equipped open plan kitchen, double bedroom with ensuite bathroom and a separate toilet. On the upper level there are 3 double bedrooms, (two with a balcony), a large bathroom with bath, separate shower, toilet and twin washbasins. From the ground floor stairs lead down to the basement 70m2 where we find a large garage and another storage workshop area that could be renovated to form another two large bedrooms or separate studio. A large terrace surrounds the chalet on two sides and there is a car-port at the end of the driveway next to the road for ease of parking in the winter when the snow is heavy.
Les Deux Alpes is a vibrant ski resort both summer and winter as it profits from having the largest skiable glacier in Europe. In summer Les Deux-Alpes is now a worldwide renowned mountain bike destination hosting events such as "Mountain of hell" and "Crankworx" attracting large numbers of enthusiasts to challenge the gnarly descents.
Les Deux Alpes is a long, narrow town sitting on a high col. As you enter from the north you pass through an area centred on the tourist office; from here, roads go off left up to Les 2 Alpes 1800; go straight on instead, and you come to the town centre, with the major gondola stations, outdoor ice rink and lots of shops and restaurants; at this point you enter a long one-way system, and finally come to Alpe de Venosc.
The six-day ski pass covers La Grave and gives two days in Alpe-d’Huez and a day in Serre-Chevalier (an hour away) as well as other resorts.
Having a car is handy to make the most of these options. There are day-trip buses twice a week to Alpe-d’Huez, but a better plan would be to spend the 70 euros on the splendid helicopter day trip available in the winter.
Les Deux Alpes is high, snow-sure, has varied slopes, including the extensive glacier as well as the largest snow park in Europe. There is lots of good off-piste terrain with stunning views of the Ecrins National Park’s high southern peaks.
The nearest town, Le Bourg d’Oisans only 15 minutes drive away, effectively forms the entrance to the Ecrins National Park, The town of Bourg d’Oisans is very lively both summer and winter. In the summer it is a hub for Hikers and sports enthusiasts.
For road cyclists in particular it is the mecca of the Southern Alps as it sits at the bottom of the famous 21 bend climb to Alpe d’Huez, made famous by the Tour De France. Many other well known cycle routes can be accessed easily from this point for example the well known cols (mountain passes) such as the Galibier, Lautaret, the Croix de Fer, and Glandon
This is an extremely well built and cared for chalet and is a classic example of this type of construction. Les Deux Alpes 1350 is a very beautiful and peaceful location away from the hussle and bussle of the higher resort. This chalet would make an ideal family home as well as a holiday home. There is also enormous rental potential for this type of property especially in high season due to its high quality and proximity to the slopes.
