The heart of the chalet is an impressive 70 m² dining & living area with an open stone fireplace & authentic vaulted ceilings as well as a large, professional kitchen. Located at an altitude of 1,500 metres and overlooking the charming village of Champagny-en-Vanoise, the Champagny-le-Haut plateau is a true delight for lovers of unspoilt Alpine landscapes.
Close to the main village yet wonderfully secluded, the Champagny-le-Haut valley combines a spectacular natural setting, characteristic of glacial valleys, with a landscape shaped by generations of human activity and adaptation .

With its proximity to Courchevel and its direct connection to la Plagne on one side and being one of the major access points for the famous Vanoise National Park on the other, the village boasts a year-round attraction that sets it apart from many of the big ski station in its vicinity.

In winter, the valley offers a vast nordic and cross-country skiing area with almost 30km of prepared and secured runs, snowshoe hiking trails, horseback riding and ski-joering, dog sled rentals and the famous ice climbing tower with regular competitions and events attracting large crowds.
The freeride and off- piste enthusiasts that dare the thrilling rides from the top of La Plagne, the Roche de Mio and Bellecote summits, into the wide bowls and steep couloirs all arrive at Champagny le Haut.
Free shuttle buses run every 5-10 minutes to bring them back in less than 6 minutes  to the the main village and its connection with La Plagne and Les Arcs /Paradiski and its 430km of slopes.  A short drive via Bozel (less than 30min) takes you to Courchevel and its access to the gigantique 3 V skie area.

In spring, when the ski season in the resorts comes to an end, the ski mountaineers put the skins on their skis : The valley is starting and end point for many iconic ski mountaineering routes, ( Grand Bec Couloir des Italiens, Col du Palet, Grand Casse, Grand Motte and many others. )

In summer, Champagny le Haut turns into a haven for nature lovers, hikers, climbers, and everyone who is yearing the beauty, peace and calm of the unspoiled mountains. A number of high-altitude refuges attract hikers and alpinists alike, while connection some of the iconic long distance hiking trails in the French Alps.

Fall, with its stunning colors and the quiet atmosphere right at the onset of the long mountain winter, has its own beauty . It attracts may mountain lovers, visitors and hikers who come for empty trails, cool temperatures and the bellow of the mountain elks marking their territory.

This meticulously renovated chalet aptly named "le Gaulois" offers a mix of traditional alpine charme,  dedicated craftsmanship and authenticity underlining its history as century old family dwelling with livestock stables, living area and hay storage in the upper levels.  You can feel the past of this house while enjoying its modern, new life.

Entering through a door that has seen hundreds of years, you step into the entry hall with thick walls and curved doors that leads to the different parts of the large chalet: past a guest bathroom and a first bedroom with shower and sink you step down into the huge (70m2) dining and living area: the former stables with beautiful vaulted ceilings, an open fireplace and one of the most beautiful, ancient granite tulip decorating the central column where the vaults converge.  A large open fireplace offers the desired mountain coziness for the cold winter evenings , where on the other side the old, original manger has been transformed in the buffet for presenting the convivial meals for your guests, right next to the professional grade kitchen of 15m2. A large, vaulted terrasse door lets in sun and light and opens to the outside terrasse.

Headed back up the stairs you will pass a large ski room with ski racks and boot dryers for the winter sport enthusiasts next to  the main entrance.  Further up the stairs you will  arrive at the 1st floor with its 5 spacious bedrooms , all with shower and sink, 2 with balconies and one with a mezzanine.
2 WC are serving these 4 bedrooms via the landing and the hallway.
Also on this level is the spa area with a beautiful Scandinavian sauna, shower, WC, lounge area and direct access to the outside for those famous snow baths after a blazing sauna round.

On the 2nd floor, you will find the remaining 5 bedrooms showcasing beautiful, massive wooden beams and griders, breathing a relaxing and alpine atmosphere under the sloped roof. This level also offers 2 showers and 1 WC . Two of these bedrooms have been prepared (plumbing and electric) for transformation into a separate small apartment for staff accommodation and would have access through a separate entry door.

The free shuttle bus (that connects le hamlet with a 4 minute drive with Champagny chef lieu and the Telecabine to La Plagne) stops right in front of the alleyway that leads to the chalet.

The Gaulois chalet offers a unique opportunity in authentic alpine style  as a large family retreat offering enough space for gatherings of all sizes- or it can be operated as a very lucrative vacation rental stretching the "normal" winter season into spring, summer and fall. This property offers a rare combination of natural beauty, tranquility & excellent rental potential.

Speaking of potential:
Since the "Le Gaulois" chalet is sharing a wall with its neighboring chalet "Le Sabot de Venus", there is an established connection via the ski boot room corridor between the two. This connection gives your guests access to the generous and spacious spa and wellness area that occupies the entirety of the ground floor of the neighboring building: A 5m long, heated pool with its lounge area, a hammam steam bath and a sauna are made to let you relax after a long day on the slopes or on trails. Both chalets are owned by the same family and can be of course be purchased together to form one gorgeous and prestigious unit like a small boutique hotel with 20+ bedrooms. Ask me for details.
